I dropped the pan, changed the filter and gasket and then replaced the pan That hoist you have will pull them both out at the same time no prob I put four qaurts dextron/mercron iii tranny fluid into it
In addressing some problems in a recently acquired 87 el camino, i pulled the driven gear bullet to replace leaking seals At least half a quart of tranny fluid poured out If my memory serves me correctly, when i have pulled this speedometer gear housing in the past from other 350s, i only. This tranny is about 1 1/2 years old and probably doesn't have 1500 miles on the rebuild
It is an '89 model I had it completely gone thru with the typical extra clutch packs, corvette servo, new reaction shield (?) and a transgo shift kit, etc It was built by the highest regarded. Read that on one of the oil analysis data links here somewhere
Basically, if the tranny fluid swap doesn't increase your performance, might as well go for longevity instead. This allows me to lower the car back down after the engine/tranny is out most of the way and gives needed clearance over the front of the car It really helps to have a couple of buddies to help. If you think about it, you've got a good 6 for the jack and ~2x8x12 piece of wood and then a good 24 for the tranny So, you're looking at 3' in the air to slip the tranny out from underneath
